History The Rationales
The Rationales are known for their layered, lush, memorable songs, their hooks and harmonies, and their exciting live shows.
Earning rave reviews, both critics and fans agree that although The Rationales sound at different times brings to mind Power-Pop, Alternative, Indie Rock, Americana, and Brit-pop, The band takes all of these influences, and adds them to their catchy, solid songwriting to create a sound that is as exciting as it is all their own.
After having their debut 2008 EP THE GOING AND THE GONE called “one of the finer local CDs of the year” by the Boston Globe, The Rationales ran a successful fan-funding campaign, releasing the full length THE DISTANCE IN BETWEEN in 2011 to high praise, both locally and internationally.
The band kicked off 2012 with the release of a new single, RADIO in March and an appearance as semi-finalists in Boston's esteemed Rock n Roll Rumble in April.
2013 saw the band move out to a more regional focus while playing a series of big shows at home with appearances at notable venues such as the Middle Esat downstairs, Brighton Music Hall, T.T. The Bears and The Sinclair. They are currently preparing a new EP for release in December 2013.
The Band’s Lineup is:
David Mirabella: Vocals, Guitar
Mike Mirabella: Drums, Vocals
Matt Goldfield: Keyboards, Vocals

Textured melodic rock, [that] fizzes with an energy that becomes increasingly difficult not to let yourself wholeheartedly sink into.
