History Stand Up and Say No

ABOUT

Every artist worth of this attribute has been known to fight hard for the sake of passion, striving to conduct an exciting routine, with the highs and lows of a lifestyle out of the ordinary. But it comes to a point when feeding your soul is no longer enough; and as they say… sometimes life just gets in the way. This is pretty much what happened to Andre Nault, a budding artist who made the life-changing decision to “push pause” on his career in music on an indefinite time basis, selling all of his gear and instruments in order to completely focus on his family. Despite spending most of his time caring for his beloved 5 children, Andre never completely abandoned his love for music. Lately, he had the chance to step back into the scene as some examples of his instrumental work (as a composer and performer) helped him score a few new publishing deals. It did not take long before massive motivation and inspiration crept in again, as Andre found a creative and expressive outlet within his moniker “Stand Up and Say No”, a “nom de disque” that hides the musical efforts of this talented composer, producer and musician who set out to win over the audience (as well as an impressive slice of industry insiders) with his unique take on indie-rock, as portrayed by his straightforward, yet innovative tracks.

TIMELESS FORMULA, MODERN AGE

Andre’s approach to making music and song-writing is built upon a really impressive background as a member of several alternative rock bands, as well as facing music from a completely different perspective, working as a composer for commercials, producing short themes and jingles, among other things. This eclectic attitude is a striking sign of personality and character, displayed in a time when artists are constantly experiencing the highs and lows of a day and age that offers an incredible array of innovations and mind-blowing tools to talented creative people. According to these criteria, Andre decided to bring his work to the very next level, releasing an album of brand new material that features 10 self-produced (and self penned) tracks. The album departs from the instrumental themes and short jingles that Andre was so used to write for his commercial work, going for an indie rock sound, chock-full of chunky guitar riffing, tight rhythm sections with a dancy edge and a voice with depth and charisma. Approaching music as a guitar player in the first place, Andre also places extra care when it comes to his vocal performances, paying particular attention to tonal qualities, sound and arrangements within his songs.

Stand Up and Say No recently introduced this album with a brand new single, Dancing On A Crooked Floor, now available on YouTube! The song is already generating quite a buzz, as Andre’s youtube channel is quickly approaching the 12.000 views marks as this article is being written.
