History Andakat
Andakat is a metal band from Linz, Upper Austria, founded in 2002. The musical style can be defined as a mixture of rock and metal, with progressive influences. The band coined the term "Prock-Metal" (Progressive Rock – Metal) for their music. Andakat relies on a rich variety and thought-out arrangements, with violin melody lines, rhythmical shifts and progressive structures.
The band was founded at Halloween (31st October) 2002, by bass player Jahashi and guitarist Double D Johnitz. After some member changes, the band recorded their first album Cleaved in 2005. The album was characterized by a mainstream-oriented rock sound. In late 2005, they produced a demo CD with new vocalist Lewi Seydul (who had appeared on „Cleaved“ by playing the violin already). This CD had a markedly heavier sound than Cleaved, and helped Andakat to gain success in the underground.
In November 2006, the latest album Green with Envy was published by the Cheljara-Records label. The album presented the versatility and both the technical and musical talents of all the musicians, and received plaudits from critics (see Links).
Since releasing Green with Envy, Andakat has been touring Austria. One highlight of this tour was the acoustic show during a Christmas party of an institution for handicapped people in Hartheim, Upper Austria. The band gave away 150 copies of their latest release for free.
