Biography Laco Lučenič

Laco Lučenič (born November 23, 1952) (website www.lucenic.com) is a Slovak musician and music producer, and a member of the famous Slovak bands Fermáta, Prúdy, Modus and Limit. He is also popular for his role as a judge on the Slovak Pop Idol (Slovensko hľadá SuperStar).

Growing up during the sixties, he became fascinated by the "electrifying" music of the Beatles, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones and other bands of the time. In his project called "Satisfactory", he plays music from the sixties. Laco Lučenič is now working on Satisfactory 2, which will be focused on Czechoslovak popular music of the sixties and beyond.

As a guitarist, he has played with other Slovak artists such as Pavol Hammel, Marián Varga and Miroslav Žbirka. He has produced albums for Slovak and Czech singers and bands such as HEX, IMT Smile, Peha, Slobodná Európa, Miroslav Žbirka and Marika Gombitová. His own albums "Bodliak na plavkách", "Zastávky na znamenie" and "Svetlo (...a pocit bezpečia)" have now — after a long time — been released as a 2 CD set called "Laco Lučenič Komplet".

It is becoming a rule, or rather a guarantee, that when an interpreter takes a longer creative break, you can expect quality. Maybe he meanwhile becomes forgotten, maybe he disappears from the music world for some time. It may be Lučenič has been already forgotten for several years. But nothing’s wrong in this case. The same as Peter Gabriel, Alan Wilder, Daniel Lanois or David Bowie had released their works after several years of seeming inactivity, it was also worth to wait for Laco Lučenič (LL). LL turns up with 17 songs (12 + 5 bonuses), which is a decent volume. The volume called XLL. But what does XLL mean? Extra large Lučenič? Extra Laco Lučenič? The truth is somewhere in-between... Greatness of a musician and the format of music he offers us...
