Biography Hungry John

John Magnar Bernes (Hungry John), vocals and harmonica, needs no introduction to blues connoisseurs. For new blues fans he is often presented as a living legend who has dedicated his life to the blues. The man's blues. John got his national and international breakthrough with the Bergen Blues Band in the 80s. One of his songs "Jump` n, n 'shout dance "was on the charts throughout Europe and the USA.

Hungry John has played with major Norwegian, Nordic and American artists, and played support for BB King, John Mayall, Buddy Guy, and others. John won the Notodden Blues Festival Blue Price 2003.

Despite a long career, there are no signs of musical stagnation by this blues man. John composes like never before, even at night in his sleep! If you share a bed or room with John, you should prepare yourself for guitar riffs, drum solos, bass lines and some text - often incoherently - so that "sleep in peace" in your own bedroom - is hereby recommended!

Atle Johannessen, also known as Freddie Johnson, is by many considered to be the best slide guitarist. Atle won the Ole Blues Award in 1997 for her great commitment to the blues. He has played with many international artists in Norway and the United States, Lowell Fulson, Jimmy Dawkins, Homesick James, Bonnie Lee, Nappy Brown, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Paul Osher, Good Time Charlie, Reidar Larsen and others.

Gunnar Bergström, drums, is one of the most widely used studio musicians in rock, blues and country. Gunnar has played with most, including Flying Norwegians, Saft, Hole in the Wall, Teddy Nelson, Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa, Dana Gillespie, Bruce Daigrepont, Homesick James, Cajun Gumbo to name a few. Gunnar received a Grammy with Saft in 1973.

Axle, a freelance musician, composer, arranger, humorist, and the band's bassist since 1994. Shaft also contributes to this CD production with their own songs. He is an all-round musician. Shaft has backed Nappy Brown, Homesick James, Guitar Shorty, Sissel, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. Won the "Newcomer of the Year in the 1993", Notodden Blues Festival, the band Dicemen.
