Heavy Jelly

Heavy Jelly started off under a number of guises and group members in the early 60's in Newcastle (UK). They were part of the Britpop/psychedelic scene without any great commercial success. A number of name (The Unknowns, The Crestas, The Clique and The Chosen Few among others) and personnel changes eventually led the the formation of Skip Bifferty in 1966. Mickey Gallagher(keyboard), Colin Gibson(bass), John Turnbull(guitar, vocals), Graham Bell(vocalist), Tommy Jackman(drummer) were the founding members. The name Skip Bifferty was taken after a cartoon character that Colin Gibson had created while at school.

After a couple of years of relatively poor commercial success Skip Bifferty broke up, but not before they recorded "I Keep Singing that Same Old Song" under the name Heavy Jelly with Paul Nicholls now on drums.
