Biography Meem

Meem aka Michael Moebus is a music producer from Sydney, Australia.

He has been producing and releasing music since 1998, and has performed alongside acts such as Thievery Corporation, Groove Armada, Jamie Lidell, M.I.A., People Under The Stairs, Girl Talk and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.

From roots in electronica, Meems music has gradually grown towards a more organic live sound. Borrowing heavily from funk, soul, jazz, disco & boogie, Meem also now incorporates guest musicians into his live shows.

Meem's first foray into the world of making and producing music began with his 4-track bedroom recordings as a young teen. Growing up on a farm in rural NSW, he was grain-fed on Indie Rock and Pop music through High School and bashed out any teen angst on the home piano. These early tapes sound like a teenager trying to be all the bands he ever heard on the radio. It wasn’t until he discovered The Orb, Madchester, and this pulsing thing called ‘Dance Music’, that he really began to change the way he thought about making music.

In 1998 Meem released his debut electro-tech epic, and he has been producing and releasing independent music ever since (mostly through his own Artist run and Independent Label ‘Non Label’). He has remixed numerous Aussie artists (including the ARIA award winning ‘Sweetness and Light’ by Itchie & Scratchie), and played countless live shows across the country (including ‘The Big Day Out’). Meem has also taken his sounds across Europe to areas including Brick Lane in London and ex-military compounds in Croatia.
