Organ Mood was founded in the spring 2008 after long discussions. It is while visiting an installation by Montreal artist Massimo Guerrerra that Mathieu Jacques and Christophe Lamarche established the bases for what would become the "mystique" of the group, and agreed on the importance to give to their spectators the feeling of being at the center of their creation. Since then the group has constantly evolved, gives few shows and looks for contexts that allow expermentation, and where the public is at the same time open minded but demanding. At the same time, they create "rituals", that allow them to explore in a different context than the standard venue.

Improvisation, immersion and mysticism are key to understand Organ Mood. Mathieu Jacques' geometrical, abstract and organic patterns support and inspire hypnotic, melodic repetitive compositions by Christophe Lamarche. This captivating combination immerse their public in a contemplative, introspective and optimistic state, where the spectator's visions become the center of the creation.

The sound and projections of Organ Mood are influenced by the various electric and electronic instruments they gathered and interconnected. A beatbox, synth and sequencer support an farfisa organ with wich Christophe Lamarche improvises its compositions without using pre-programmed sequences. The result can sound like Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Delia Gonzales & Gavin Russom.

The sound of the organ finds its counterpart in the overhead projetctors Mathieu Jacques uses to create live light graphic compositions by using colored gels and silkscreened transparent films. He draws and scratches on them motifs that can recall both Norman McLaren or Paper Rad. They want their performances to be close to a ritual, a comparison that they use to underline the relation they create with their public, the impression they want to give to be in an unique time and place.
