Biography Brigitte Zarie
Brigitte Zarie is a female jazz vocalist born in Toronto, Canada now living in New York, New York.
Collaborating with Jeff Golub and others, she has published her debut album, Make Room for Me. Zarie comes from a musical family; her father was a keyboard player and saxophonist, her brother a guitarist, and her mother sang. She once said, "My teachers are the great musicians I grew up listening to." Artists who have had an influence on her include saxophonist Stan Getz and singer Billie Holiday, among others.
Her new release, Make Room for Me, which was produced by Neil Jason, is a collection of all-new, all-original jazz compositions written by herself and performed by her BigBand and Jazz Quintet. Guest artists on the album include: Randy Brecker, Jeff Golub, Tom Malone, Al Chez and Bruce Kapler from the David Letterman Show, and a host of NY's top session players.
Zarie's international flavor shines through on a second version of the title track recorded in French. She has also had songs from her catalogue performed and recorded by UK pop/opera artist Russell Watson in English and Italian. Other compositions have been featured on TV shows such as The O.C., MTV, The Real World, and TV movies like Snow 2: Brain Freeze and Future Cars. Her voice has been featured on spots for the NBA, Southwest Air, Toyota, Scotch Tape, Kay Jewelers, and two new feature films for 2009, Food Fight and Lonely Streets, to name a few.
