History Idol Rich

There are two artists with this name:

1) Gloucester based heavy metal band, founded as Hooker, changed name to Idol Rich in 1984.

2) Blackburn, Lancashire based band, formed in late 1982.

1. Idol Rich were a Gloucester based heavy metal band, who did not quite achieve success. Their independently released EP (Working Girls} received rave reviews from the music press, but the band broke up in 1988 to pursue other music options.

2. Phil Hendriks (Lead vocals,Guitar); Neil Summersgill (Keyboards,Vocals); John Wade (Guitar,Vocals); John "Juice" Mayor (Drums,Vocals); Mark Hurlbut (Bass, Vocals)

Formed in late 1982.The band was put together by members of 2 Blackburn, Lancashire-based bands, The Stiffs and The Strides, after the simultaneous demise of both bands.

Idol Rich released 2 singles for Dork Records, 1983`s "Blaze Of Love" and 1984 "Skye Boat Song", the latter of which was released as a festive offering under the pseudonym "Richie McIdol".
