History Radio Raheem

Radio Raheem refers to four artists:

1) A Brooklyn-based rap group consisting of MC Hypno and Reverend Ruckus. Work on their first album, RADIO RAHEEM IS FUCKING DEAD, has been stalled by both musicians' current death row sentences.

2) Radio Raheem is a Seattle based hip hop/new wave/soul/ band with a new record called Down for the Get Down. Their sound mixes old school hip hop, soul, pop into a high energy jam. They are compared to Fitz and the Tantrums, Sharon Jones and Talking Heads.

3) Radio Raheem was born in 1996, as a Rock and Ska band on the Barcelona emerging mixed music scene. They started at the same time as other bands like Macaco, Cheb Balowsky, Wagner Pa, Dusminguet, Costo Rico, etc.

In 1998 the band contacts the record company and its label Lupara Records, which will publish its first work the next year. This album will bring the band into the Barcelona mixed music pioneers group.

Later, after playing as a support band of Manu Chao at La Paloma in Barcelona, Radio Raheem starts the tour "Hasta donde llegue Tour" (As far as we can Tour) through all the Spanish land. After two years of intense and continuous presence in the stage, the tour will finish with they second work recording.

"La casa del Putxineli", this second record, again under the label Lupara Records, is produced by Albert Gil and includes many collaborations like the intervention of Yacine, Cheb Balowsky's voice, Anouk Voz from Color Humano and Fufu Ai, or Carles Belda, accordion and voice of Pomada and Mesclat.

After this record they start a new tour, called "Alacrán Tour", ending in 2004 with a crowded concert in the Plaza de la Catedral in Burgos, with more than 4 thousand people there.

With 8 years of activity, Radio Raheem stops its continued presence in the stages and devotes itself to the creation of new songs for recording, in 2006, its new disc PATXOKA!. This one is its most developed work: a collection of songs including ska, rock, salsa, ragga and reggae, published in 2007 con CONTRA RECORDS.

4) Radio Raheem was a Long Island based post punk band in the late 90s/early 2000s who later became Rahim (French Kiss Records). As Radio Raheem they released a demo, a 7 inch and a split 7 inch with Knox Overstreet
