Биография Nick Douglas
Born in Camden, New Jersey, Nick Douglas, the son of a Navy father studied architecture before pursuing a career in music. At age thirteen, he was lured into learning the electric bass partly by influence of his mother's record collection of '70's soul, pop and rock music.
At age nineteen, Nick joined the New Jersey heavy metal band Deadly Blessing. A year later they signed a record deal with Los Angeles-based heavy metal label, New Renaissance Records. Their debut album, Ascend from the Cauldron, received commendable praise from the critics and is considered a collectors piece to this day. The band toured the U.S. sparingly between 1988 and 1990.
Three years after joining Deadly Blessing, Nick left the band to pursue a new life and new sounds in New York City. This led him to a few short-lived runs with rock/metal groups such as Hittman and The Cycle Sluts from Hell.
In 1990, shortly after parting ways with The Cycle Sluts, Nick landed the position as bassist for the female metal icon, Doro Pesch and has been playing with her ever since. Other band members of Doro include: Joe Taylor (lead guitar), Johnny Dee (drums) and Oliver Palotai (keys and guitar). Over the years Doro, Nick and the band have developed an energetic chemistry to be reckoned with.
Other artists Nick has played with include Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans Siberian Orchestra) and Los Angeles based singer/ songwriter Sharlotte Gibson.
In early 2001, Nick released his first solo effort, "Through the Pane", a twelve-song semi-monolog mostly fueled by his early crossbreed of influences. Stretching from rock to moody ballads, to technical and organic ambiences. On November 27th 2006 "Through the Pane" was released throughout Europe on Painkiller Records. To celebrate, Nick (along with band members, Joe Taylor, Johnny Dee and Oliver Palotai) performed a special live set the same evening as the release at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cologne, Germany.
"Through the Pane" continues to receive critic approval throughout the world. The title track "You're A Miracle" appeared on ABC's daytime soap "All My Children". Other tracks such as "Just One Kiss", "Away" and "The Last Goodbye" proved to be listeners favorites.
Nick is currently working on a second solo effort.
