One doesn’t choose accidentallly to represent the famous Commedia Dell’arte character of Pulcinella (Punch, Petrouchka, Polichinelle). Opting for a polyglot speech made of present and past musics from here and there, Pulcinella presents, with a real sense of theatre and comedy, a sound of the metamorphosis, fancy and refined, but still popular. The musicians’ personality, the wide range of sounds, and the instrumental variety lead to an easy-to-identify universe: surprising, baroque, spontaneous and close to the universe of the tales.
The musicians of Pulcinella play their own compositions, melting together several idioms borrowed from the jazz, the rock, but also from the "bal musette", the improvised music, the balkan and latin traditions. The pieces are served by saxophones, accordion, acoustic bass, drums, percussions, metallophone and many other more unexpected instruments (wing flutes, glockenspiel, melodica, bendir, toys, tools, voices…)
