Boogie Down Productions (BDP) was a pioneering American hip-hop group established in the Bronx, New York City, in 1986. The foundational members were KRS-One, D-Nice, and DJ Scott La Rock. Their seminal 1987 debut album, Criminal Minded, offered a raw depiction of the social realities prevalent in the South Bronx during that era. Tragically, DJ Scott La Rock died on August 27 of the same year. The group's name itself is a nod to a local moniker for the South Bronx, the "Boogie Down."

BDP is widely recognized for integrating dancehall reggae elements into hip-hop music and for its significant role in shaping the trajectory of socially conscious rap.
