The hip-hop duo Eric B. & Rakim, hailing from New York City, comprised DJ Eric Barrier (born November 8, 1965) and MC Rakim (born William Michael Griffin Jr.). Together, they released four studio albums, with their 1987 debut, Paid in Full, widely considered one of the most influential records in hip-hop history. Their subsequent releases included Follow the Leader (1988), Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em (1990), and Don't Sweat the Technique (1992), after which the duo disbanded.
