Selena

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez (April 16, 1971 – March 31, 1995), known mononymously as Selena, remains one of the most influential and beloved figures in Tejano music. Born in Lake Jackson, Texas, and raised in Corpus Christi, she emerged as a groundbreaking artist whose vibrant performances and heartfelt music transcended cultural boundaries.

Selena's musical journey began at a young age under the guidance of her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., a former musician himself. She, along with her siblings A.B. III on bass and Suzette on drums, formed a new iteration of the band Los Dinos, which also featured Ricky Vela on keyboards and Roger Garcia on guitar. Selena made her first public performance at just eight years old and recorded her first song at nine. Her childhood was characterized by constant touring as the band honed its sound and built a following.
