Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, professionally known as Joey Bada$$, emerged from Brooklyn, New York, on January 20, 1995. He is a prominent American rapper, producer, and artist, recognized as a key member of the hip-hop collective Pro Era. With Pro Era, he has contributed to three mixtapes.

Joey Bada$$ launched his solo career with the critically acclaimed mixtape 1999, released on June 12, 2012. This project featured production from fellow Pro Era members, alongside beats from influential artists like J Dilla and MF DOOM. Following 1999, he released Rejex on September 6, a compilation of early song versions and unreleased tracks. His second mixtape, Summer Knights, arrived on July 1, 2013, building on the momentum of his initial success.
