History

Jay Park (born April 25, 1987) is a multifaceted American artist known for his work as a hip hop recording artist, dancer, record producer, choreographer, entrepreneur, and actor. His journey in music began during his high school years when he joined the b-boy crew Art of Movement (AOM). In 2004, his audition for JYP Entertainment led to an opportunity in Korea, where he honed his skills in rapping, singing, dancing, and the Korean language under the mentorship of Park Jinyoung.

Early Career and 2PM

Park first gained recognition through the MNET reality program "Hot Blood," which documented the training of future idol group members. He emerged as a fan favorite, securing the top spot and becoming the leader of the group 2PM. The group officially debuted on September 4, 2008, with the song “10 Point Out of 10 Points” and their first mini-album, Hottest Time of the Day. Their subsequent promotions for “Again and Again” significantly boosted their popularity, earning them three consecutive first-place awards on major music programs in May 2009.

Departure from 2PM and Solo Resurgence

In September 2009, controversial comments from Park's personal Myspace account in 2005 resurfaced. Misinterpreted and mistranslated by Korean media, these remarks led to widespread public backlash and demands for his departure from Korea. Despite expressing deep remorse and issuing an apology, JYP Entertainment announced the termination of his contract on February 25, 2010, with the agreement of the other 2PM members.

Park revitalized his career by launching his own YouTube channel on March 15, 2010. He began uploading cover songs, marking his return to music after a hiatus and reconnecting with his fanbase.

Solo Activities and Ventures

Since his solo debut, Jay Park has maintained an active career in both the United States and South Korea. He has released a mixtape and multiple studio albums, with "Worldwide" being a notable release. His recent single is titled "The Truth Is." Beyond his music career, Park has also ventured into acting, appearing in the films "Hype Nation" and "Mr. Idol."
