Sissel Kyrkjebø

Sissel Kyrkjebø, born June 24, 1969, in Bergen, Norway, is a Norwegian singer widely recognized by her mononym, Sissel. Her international profile was significantly raised by her performance of the Olympic Hymn at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. She has also gained recognition for notable collaborations, including duets with Plácido Domingo, Warren G, and The Chieftains, as well as her contribution to the soundtrack of the film Titanic.

Sissel's vocal talents extend across a diverse range of musical genres, encompassing pop, folk, and classical music. Her work on the Titanic soundtrack drew comparisons to the ethereal sound of Irish singer Enya. In addition to her recording career, Sissel lent her voice to the character of Ariel, the mermaid princess, in the Scandinavian dubs of Disney's animated classic, The Little Mermaid.
