Otautahi Allstars
The Otautahi Allstars is a collective of emerging musicians from Christchurch, New Zealand, known for their original live reggae sound infused with jazz elements.
Formation and Early Work
Established in January 2002, the Otautahi Allstars began as a musical endeavor spearheaded by Oakley Grenell. The project's initial goal was to record an album featuring Grenell's original compositions in the group's distinctive reggae-jazz style. Following rehearsals, the collective entered the studio to produce a full-length album.
Debut Performance and Subsequent Ventures
The group made their debut performance at the Dux de Lux venue. Shortly after, a significant portion of the band members dispersed internationally to pursue other musical opportunities, marking the end of their initial collective activities for that year.
