El-B

El-B, born Lewis Beadle, is a pivotal British producer and DJ recognized as a foundational figure in the UK Garage and Dubstep scenes. He helms the Ghost Recordings label and is also known for his work as part of the duo El-Tuff and the group Groove Chronicles.

Emerging between 2000 and 2002, a fertile period in urban music, El-B established Ghost studios in Streatham, South London. Operating from a self-built shed, funded by a dissolved album deal, El-B and his collective, known as the Ghost Camp, forged a distinctive sound. This new mutation drew from the deep basslines of Drum & Bass and the soulful rhythms of UK Garage, creating a unique sonic landscape that would later be recognized as Dubstep.
