Summer Marjani Walker is an American singer and songwriter. She signed with Love Renaissance and Interscope Records in 2017.
Early Career and Breakthrough
In 2018, Walker released the mixtape Last Day of Summer. The project included the single "Girls Need Love," which gained significant traction. A remix featuring Drake propelled the song to become her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching the top 40.
Debut Album Success
Walker's debut studio album, Over It, was released in October 2019. The album was met with widespread critical acclaim and debuted at number-two on the Billboard 200 chart. It set a new record for the biggest streaming debut week ever for a female R&B artist. The album also produced the US top 20 single "Playing Games" and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Sophomore Album Achievements
On November 5, 2021, Walker released her second studio album, Still Over It. This album achieved number-one debut on the Billboard 200 chart. It broke her own record for the largest streaming debut week for a female R&B artist and also set a new record for the most album streams in a single day by a female artist on Apple Music. Additionally, Walker tied with Taylor Swift as the only two female artists to have 18 songs concurrently charting on the Billboard Hot 100.
