Carti began his musical journey in 2011 using the moniker Sir Cartier. This early stage name reflected his burgeoning interest in luxury brands, a theme that would continue to evolve throughout his career. In 2013, he rebranded as Playboi Carti and joined the independent collective Awful Records. During this period, he worked closely with the producer Ethereal, whose atmospheric beats helped Carti cultivate a dedicated local following.
