History

Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C. is an Irish post-punk band that formed in Dublin in 2014. The group, which has since relocated to London, consists of Grian Chatten on vocals, Carlos O'Connell and Conor Curley on guitar, Conor Deegan III on bass, and Tom Coll on drums.

The members met while studying music, discovering a shared passion for poetry that became a foundational element of their artistic expression. Initially, the band self-released singles and built a following through consistent live performances. Their efforts led to a record deal with Partisan Records in 2018.

Debut and Critical Acclaim

Fontaines D.C. released their debut album, Dogrel, on April 12, 2019. The album garnered significant critical praise, earning a spot as Rough Trade's Album of the Year and being voted Album of the Year by BBC Radio 6 Music presenters. It also received nominations for the prestigious Mercury Prize and the Choice Music Prize.

Subsequent Releases and Chart Success

The band's second studio album, A Hero's Death, was created during extensive touring following their debut and was released on July 31, 2020. This album achieved a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Their third album, Skinty Fia, released in 2022, marked a significant milestone as it became the band's first to top both the U.K. and Irish album charts. Fontaines D.C. released their fourth album, Romance, in August 2024.
