Ariana Grande is an American singer, songwriter, and actress whose career spans Broadway, television, and global music charts. Born in Boca Raton, Florida, Grande first gained attention in 2008 in the Broadway musical 13. She achieved wider recognition as Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon series Victorious and its spin-off Sam & Cat. Her transition into music began with the Victorious soundtrack before she signed with Republic Records in 2011 after label executives discovered her song covers on YouTube.

Her debut studio album, Yours Truly (2013), showcased a 1950s-inspired R&B and pop sound, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and producing the top-ten hit "The Way." This was followed by My Everything (2014), which expanded her sound into EDM and produced several major singles, including "Problem," "Break Free," and "Love Me Harder."
