Young Thug Surprise Releases Slime Language 3 Double Album

A Massive Compilation Across Two Discs

The third installment of the Young Thug label’s compilation series, Slime Language 3, arrived as a surprise late Friday. Spanning 41 tracks and over two hours in length, the project is divided into two distinct sides, each featuring its own cover art. This release marks the latest entry in a trilogy that began with 2018’s Slime Language and continued with the chart-topping Slime Language 2 in 2021.

This installment serves as a showcase for the current and future roster of Young Stoner Life Records. While veterans like Lil Keed and Unfoonk appear, the project heavily features a new era of artists including Tezzus, diamond*, 1300SAINT, Pz’, Sk8star, and YUME. The project explores a variety of sounds within the Hip Hop genre, from the "rage" production of "Consummate" to the R&B effort "Switch Up," which features Mariah the Scientist.

Star-Studded Collaborations and Standout Tracks

In addition to the core YSL lineup, the album includes a wide array of high-profile guests. Future, Travis Scott, Yeat, Quavo, Lil Baby, Trippie Redd, Cash Cobain, and Veeze are among those contributing to the double album. On the track "Eaters," Young Thug, Tezzus, and Yeat are joined by Future and Travis Scott, though critics noted that some verses on the five-verse cut felt "mailed-in."

Other highlights include "Mob Guys," where Quavo delivers a verse described as showing a "hunger he hasn’t shown in quite some time." The track "Birthday" features Bay Swag and Cash Cobain in a more downtempo homage to women that references Dorrough’s "Ice Cream Paint Job." The posse cut "Bvlgari" closes Disc 1, running seven minutes and featuring verses from signees including iyrus, Lito the Plug, Biggs Money, and Yung Kayo.

The album also features emotional moments, such as "Grandma’s Baby," where BSlime and Veeze reflect on personal struggles and pay tribute to the late Takeoff and Lil Keed. BSlime's performance on the track is noted for its vulnerability as he discusses his conversations with God and battles with temptation. Additionally, "Fernando Mendoza" references the 2026 NFL number one pick and his success at Indiana University.

Navigating a New Era for YSL Records

The release of Slime Language 3 follows a tumultuous period for the label. Between 2022 and 2025, the label saw several prominent members distance themselves or leave the group, including Gunna, Yak Gotti, Lil Duke, YTB Trench, and FN DaDealer. Nine Vicious also departed in 2025. Gunna, who was central to the success of Slime Language 2, is notably absent from this compilation following a falling-out related to the YSL RICO case.

Young Thug himself was behind bars for more than two years before striking a plea deal. In October 2024, he was sentenced to 15 years’ probation with no prison time. Since his release, he has worked to reorient himself in the music landscape. His post-prison comeback album, UY SCUTI, was released in September 2025 and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.

Production and Thematic Elements

The production on Slime Language 3 is diverse, featuring contributions from Klimax, PROJECT4PLAY, Shiv, and Smoke55fr on tracks like "NaNaNa." The album moves through various moods, from the "trunk-rattler" beat of "Lil Bruh" to the church organs and video-game synths found on "Function." The song "Wait for It" is noted for energy reminiscent of late 2000s Roscoe Dash and was described as a possible leftover from Metro Boomin’s A Futuristic Summa.

Lyrically, the album covers familiar ground such as wealth and street loyalty, but also touches on more personal themes. On "Snakes on My Collar," diamond* provides a memorable line about his influence:

"I done changed up the game, made these h—s pay for d—."

Similarly, "Stole It From Us" features Tezzus paying homage to Thug’s 2016 track "Slime S—" with the lyrics:

The compilation concludes with "What It Do," a heartfelt collaboration between Young Thug and Unfoonk that reflects on their loyalty to the streets and their experiences with trust and pride. Following the album's release, the label is set to embark on a YSL label tour starting next week, featuring many of the artists highlighted on the project.
